What is cellulite?

Cellulite refers to the skin’s dimpled or lumpy appearance, often resembling an orange peel or cottage cheese. It commonly appears on the thighs, buttocks, and hips but can also occur on other areas of the body. Cellulite is more common in women than in men.

What causes cellulite?

Cellulite is caused by the way fat is distributed beneath the skin. The fat cells press against the connective tissue, creating a characteristic dimpled appearance. Various factors can influence it, including genetics, hormonal changes, poor circulation, a sedentary lifestyle, a high-fat diet, and excessive body fat.

Contrary to popular belief, cellulite is not necessarily a sign of being overweight or unhealthy. Even individuals with a healthy body weight and active lifestyle can develop cellulite. However, maintaining a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and staying hydrated can help reduce its appearance.

Various topical skincare products are marketed to reduce cellulite’s appearance. However, the effectiveness of these creams is often debated.

How to treat Cellulite

The combination of ultrasound fat cavitation and radiofrequency (RF) skin tightening treatments may offer some potential benefits for reducing the appearance of cellulite and offer a solution for cellulite treatment.

Ultrasound fat cavitation targets and disrupts fat cells, while RF skin tightening treatments use radiofrequency energy to heat the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production and tightening the skin.

Combining these two techniques makes it possible to address both the fat deposits and the skin laxity associated with cellulite. The disruption of fat cells through ultrasound cavitation can help reduce fat volume. At the same time, RF skin tightening can promote collagen remodeling and improve skin elasticity, resulting in a smoother appearance.
